Introducing Amaidí

Get ready to embark on a musical adventure with Amaidí (pronounced Ah-mah-dee), the boy band shaking up the neo-trad scene with pumping tunes, heavy bass, and exciting arrangements. Translated, “Amaidí” means “nonsense” or “silly,” which perfectly encapsulates our fun and playful approach to music. We blend the traditions of Irish, Scottish, and Australian music with our own original compositions. Think fast-paced trad melodies with a modern feel that’ll have you dancing in no time.

Traditional Roots, Modern Kick

Our music is rooted in the Celtic traditions we love, but it is also shaped by who we are and where we come from. We grew up in Australia, surrounded by trad tunes, local sounds, and each other’s influences. What you will hear is a mix of originals, carefully chosen traditional sets, and a whole lot of personality. It is high-level musicianship wrapped in fun, chaos, and pure energy. We stay true to the heart of the music while making it our own, and when we hit the stage, we are there to lift the roof.

The Group

Meet the instrumental wizards behind Amaidí:

• Lachlan Baldwin: The man with the axe who wields it like a god. Lachlan’s guitar and vocals are the driving force of our sound, delivering songs from all over the world with energy and passion, along with a healthy mix of originals. • Davydd McDonald: The fiddle maestro who knows all the tunes. Davydd’s playing is the glue that holds us together, adding that essential spark to every performance. • Jack Meimaris: The man with all the buttons on the floor, keeping the beat and the bass pumping and dropping. Jack’s not just about the accordion; he’s a one-man sound machine with stomp boxes and effects that get the crowd going wild. • Sam De Santi: The multi-instrumentalist who plays everything, especially the banjo. Dare him, and he’ll shred on the electric guitar. Sam has an extensive background in Australian trad tunes, giving the band its Aussie flavour.

At Amaidí, we play music that brings people together. While we draw from Irish, Scottish, and Australian traditions, our focus is on creating joyful, energetic experiences that anyone can connect with. You do not need to come from a specific background to be part of it. We just want people to have fun, feel welcome, and leave with a smile.
